Dear Trainee,

A reminder that the deadline for applications for the 2021 RCSI PROGRESS Women in Surgery Fellowship, supported by Johnson & Johnson, has CLOSED

This Fellowship is a prestigious educational bursary awarded by the RCSI, and supported by Johnson & Johnson, to promote female participation in surgical training at fellowship level with the successful candidate receiving a grant of up to €45,000 for one year and receive the RCSI PROGRESS Women in Surgery Medal at Charter Day 2021.

The transition from senior trainee to consultant can be a challenging step. Fellowships help bridge the gap by providing subspecialty training typically at a level higher than normally received under the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Programme. Because of this, the proposed Clinical Fellowship must have a substantial surgery component where the applicant will participate in surgery and receive surgical training in the operating theatre. Importantly, it will support the acquisition of additional surgical skills and knowledge that will contribute to the advancement of surgical science and practice in the island of Ireland.

To discuss your application prior to submission or register your interest, please email Caroline McGuinness at cmcguinness@rcsi.ie.

Yours Sincerely
Kieran Ryan
