The Aspire Fellowship in ENT Skills for Primary Care

The National Doctor’s Training & Planning Unit (NDTP) in conjunction with the Acute Hospital Division launched the NDTP Aspire Fellowship Awards in 2017.

The successful Aspire Fellows will be funded for:

  • SpR Salary (highest point of scale) and headcount for the duration of the fellowship
  • Eligibility to access the Higher Specialist Training Fund during the fellowship

The successful fellow receives:

  • Formal recognition of achievement following completion of the fellowship from the relevant Irish Post Graduate Medical Education Body/Bodies
  • A high quality fellowship experience in Ireland that will improve competitiveness for positions within Ireland.

Application Eligibility Criteria

This Aspire Fellowship is open to GPSs who have obtained CSCST within the last 3 years and have completed the recognised ICGP training program in Ireland

Application Process Open

  • Interested candidates must submit a CURRENT AND COMPREHENSIVE CV , statement of interest AND 2 NAMED REFERESS, when applying.
  • Applications close COB April 22nd 2022
  • All applications should be submitting a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae and a support cover letter which outlines why they are interested in the fellowship, their career aspirations and what they feel are the key characteristics that will differentiate them from other candidates directly to sineaddixon@rcsi.com

The Award

  • An SpR salary at the highest point of the scale
  • Eligibility to access the Higher Specialist Training Fund the Clinical Course Exam Refund Scheme (CCERS) and the Training Supports Scheme (TSS) during the fellowship
  • Formal recognition of achievement following completion of the fellowship from RCSI
  • A high-quality fellowship experience, which will equip the fellow with expertise in the management and care of patients with non-complex ENT conditions presenting in a Primary Care setting. It is envisioned that completion of this fellowship programme will enable the Fellow to subsequently undertake a leadership role in local and regional delivery and planning of ENT Care in a community setting.
