Arthroscopy is the mainstay for treatment of meniscal pathology including tears, degeneration and cysts. It offers shorter stay and faster recovery than open meniscectomy.

Repair or partial meniscectomy is preferred to total meniscectomy, which causes more instability and predisposes to osteoarthritis.
