Post Duration Commencing Eligibility
St Vincent’s University  Hospital, Dublin
1 Year July 2025

Available to doctors who have obtained CCST and are within two years of post CCST* or eligible for entry into the specialist division of Urology Surgery (IMC). Applications for this Fellowship will be accepted from surgical trainees in any surgical discipline.

Fellowship Details

This fellowship is composed of three components:

1) A European accredited fellowship certificate in robotic assisted urological operations

2) RCSI fellowship in Surgical Education

3) RCSI Professional Diploma in Health Professions Education (funded by RCSI)

The successful applicant will undergo formal fellowship training in robotic assisted surgery, in the areas of prostate, kidney and bladder cancer. When the fellow is on this program, they automatically enrolled in a week of robotic training in The ORSI Robotics Academy Belgium, where they go though intensive robotic surgery training, including simulation on low and  high fidelity training models, with the week culminating in live animal surgery. We have four robotic surgery surgeons in St. Vincent’s who will deliver the teaching, and the candidate will get the opportunity to learn robot surgery in high volume and will be independent by completion of the fellowship. The certificate is recognised Worldwide.

We have also partnered with RCSI for this fellowship, and the fellow will deliver one day of teaching in RCSI to surgeons in training (for example core surgical trainees learning basic surgical skills, SpR training days etc.).

In addition, the Department of Surgical Affairs in RCSI will fund the fellow for the RCSI Professional Diploma in Health Professions Education, so that they obtain a formal qualification in medical education. There will be many opportunities for research within the Dept Surgical Affairs for research if the candidate is interested.
